Troubleshooting

Ableton Live #

If you’re using the Audio Unit plugin, please ensure “Use Audio Units v3” is turned on in Ableton Live’s plugins settings. If it’s off, Ableton Live will not be able to find any Audio Unit version 3 plugins.

If you’re using the VST plugin, please ensure “Use VST3 Plug-In System Folders” is turned on in Ableton Live’s plugins settings. If it’s off, Ableton Live will not be able to find any VST3 plugins.

Bitwig #

If you’re seeing errors or plugins are missing in Bitwig, deleting the VST cache can resolve the problem.

  • macOS: Delete ~/Library/Application Support/Bitwig/Bitwig Studio/index/ and ~/Library/Caches/Bitwig/vst-metadata.
  • Windows: Delete C:\Users\yourusername/AppData/Local/BitwigStudio/index and C:\Users\yourusername/AppData/Local/BitwigStudio/cache/vst-metadata

If the cache is deleted, Bitwig will rescan plugins. Bitwig have more info here: I upgraded my VST collection, now something is strange/missing. Why?

Logic Pro #

Please ensure you’ve followed the installation instructions. The next thing to try is clearing the Audio Unit cache, then restarting your Mac to force a scan. Here are the steps needed:

  1. In Finder, press ⌘G and go to the location: ~/Library/Caches/AudioUnitCache
  2. Move everything inside the AudioUnitCache folder onto your desktop.
  3. Restart your Mac.
  4. Launch Logic Pro. It should rescan all plugins.

These are also the steps Apple advise.

Instrument version #

Some apps, like Cubase, FL Studio, Mixcraft and Fender Studio One, require MIDI effects plugins to be tagged as an instrument. We have a special version of Chaos Line for apps with this requirement. If the main version of Chaos Line doesn’t work in your music app, please try the version below.
