Welcome to Double Freak
Thanks for spending some time to get more familiar with Double Freak. Double Freak is a dual oscillator frequency follower plugin.

Double Freak is an audio plugin. It can be added to instrument tracks after the instrument and added to audio tracks. It tracks the pitch of incoming audio, then uses the pitch to play two oscillators.
Oscillators #
The octave and pitch controls determine how different the pitch of the oscillator is to the incoming signal’s pitch. For example, if octave is set to be +1, then the oscillator will play an octave above the incoming signal’s pitch.
Glide controls how quickly the oscillator will track the incoming signal’s pitch. At its fastest setting, the pitch will be tracked very quickly, keeping sync with the incoming signal’s pitch. At slower settings, it’ll track the pitch more loosely, gliding into place.
The waveform sets the oscillator’s waveform, changing how it sounds.
Mixer #
Osc 1 and Osc 2 controls the level of the oscillators. Dry controls the level of the incoming audio of the plugin.
Env mod and decay #
Env mod and decay control the pitch envelope. When a new note is played, it will start with an offset controlled by env mod, and last as long as decay. For example, set env mod to 12 and decay to 20 ms for the ocillators to quickly pitch down at the start of notes.
Sense #
Sense controls how sensitive note triggering is. A low value means quiet input audio can trigger Double Freak. A high value means audio will need to be louder before Double Freak plays notes.
Channel linking #
The icon above the sense dial sets if pitch tracking is per channel, or averaged across all channels. Per channel pitch tracking means a stereo track’s left and right channels can be wildly different, for a super wide effect. Averaged pitch tracking is locked across all channels, maintaining focus.
Analog modelled distortion #
Double Freak features two different distortion types that have been modelled on analog hardware. The distortion processing happens after the mixer, so the dry incoming signal can also be distorted.
This means Double Freak can be used purely as a distortion plugin, if you’d like — simply turn down the volume of the oscillators and leave the dry signal loud. The dry level control determines how distorted the signal will be.
